  1. i would have watched the Traitors if it wasn’t so bloody long!!! i am not going to commit hours upon hours to these reality shows every week. I think it would have done better on a Monday night though, too much competition on a Sunday, even shows on in later timeslots mean people have a very full viewing schedule.

  2. The traitors was disappointing it sounded up my alley but it was just boring I was expecting The traitors to have more of a role but all they do Eliminated people in the middle of the night I was expecting to be similar to the mole sabotage teammates

  3. Very disappointed in The Traitors – it seemed to fall into so many of the traps that reality shows adopt that diminish their interest.
Firstly, scheduled from 7.30pm to 9.00pm it did not finish until 9.19pm (though they did update the EPG eventually.)
Next of course there were the endless to-camera interviews telling the audience exactly what it had already seen.
Thirdly the lack of any drama – we needed to see the killings in detail to give the show any resonance at all.
Finally, the pace. Brutally slow with interminable backstories from the participants.
It seems everything that could be done at the structure and editing level to make the show dull was done.

  4. Interesting comments for Traitors AU – I was re-reading your initial take David and tend to agree. It’s not camp enough or not serious enough. I’ll keep watching but it might not hold me…
Maybe I’ve been watching too much of Netflix’s version of The Mole but that’s my new benchmark for this type of reality TV.
Ten also had promos for The Challenge AU on last night here in Perth; looks very good and keen for that.

  5. A lot of the problem for The Traitors in these opening episodes is going to be that most of its promo was run during Amazing Race Australia, which barely anyone was watching, and the shows are so different there isn’t likely to be a huge crossover audience anyway.

      1. I saw it advertised a lot even during Gogglebox and HYBPA (which I do watch) as well as YouTube ads. Not sure what this commenter is smoking, nor his obsession with commenting negatively against The Amazing Race on posts here when it’s relevant.

10 heavily promoted it as they do for all their shows. And yet the premiere alone was outrated by all episodes of The Amazing Race with the exception of the one that aired during the Queen’s Funeral.

  6. Okay, I really enjoyed the Traitors; the show itself was really good, though perhaps 24 people were too many to start with. Whether or not intruders would work remains to be seen. As it is a new concept, there needed to be a better explanation of how the game works. At first, I thought it would be like The Mole, but I was hooked once I realised it was essentially Mafia/Werewolf with added elements.
I really enjoyed Roger Corser’s hosting, the off-hand comments especially. Like talking to the grave whilst the players completed the challenge. Hillarious.
It was an interesting idea that the Traitors were also competing to earn the money too. I had assumed it was like the Mole, and anything the group didn’t win, the traitors got instead. Which could add interesting gameplay element.
Definitely keen to keep watching it. Would recommend.

  7. Yesterday was a big sport across the channels of 10Bold, 10Peach and 10. David, I am wondering how many viewers watched the A-League, NBL and the MotoGP?

  8. Rare win for me last night on Spicks and Specks. Guessed all 6 of the substitute songs correctly and also got the secret song.

Watched Significant Others afterwards but not sure I like it.

  9. Absolutely horrible for 10. I rather enjoyed the premiere of The Traitors but this will likely be its only season.

Fully expecting The Challenge Australia to do horribly in November as a Big Brother VIP-esque flop as well. What a disaster 10’s Q4 has been.

    1. I also enjoyed The Traitors and will continue to watch, but yes a horrible opening night figure.

Agree on The Challenge Australia, yes very Big Brother VIP-esque and will likely do poorly.

  10. Wow , TEN lays another rotten egg and I can smell it from here. Even the promos for The Traitors looked boring so heaven knows why this talk fest was commissioned.
Really makes you wonder how TEN programming can keep getting away with serving up these very expensive duds doesn’t it ?
And whoever was responsible for taking The Living Room in-house and wrecking it by changing a regular, winning format – do they still have a job ? Bet they do.
