Airdate: A Spy Among Friends

A Spy Among Friends starring Damien Lewis, Guy Pearce and Anna Maxwell Martin will premiere on BritBox in early December.

The six part series portrays is an adaptation of the book written by Ben Macintyre about the true story of Nicholas Elliott and Kim Philby, two British spies and lifelong friends. Philby was the most notorious British defector and Soviet double agent in history.

This is a story of intimate duplicity; of loyalty, trust and treachery. Philby’s deeply personal betrayal, uncovered at the height of the Cold War, resulted in the gutting of British and American Intelligence.

The period spy drama recounts incredible secret agent stories from the Cold War and sheds light on the origins of deceptive tactics that special forces and intelligence organisations still use to this day. Anchored by an outstanding cast of Damien Lewis (Homeland, Billions), Guy Pearce (Jack Irish, Mare of Easttown) and Anna Maxwell Martin (Motherland, Line of Duty) who bring to life the story of friendship and betrayal during the Cold War.
