10 has finally made the call on The Challenge, its latest struggling reality series.
Next week it will screen in a double episode at 8:30pm Monday, but it may not be enough to improve on overall share.
Monday Nov 28
7:30pm Bondi Rescue dbl rpt
8:30pm The Challenge dbl
10:30pm FBI: Most Wanted
Tuesday Nov 29
7:30pm Ambulance Australia dbl rt
8:30pm NCIS
Next week is the first week of summer non-ratings. This move also leaves Ghosts without a slot.

I guess the real challenge was the ratings they lost along the way..
Unlikeable cast and an odd hybrid format of competition and trashy behaviour. Why is this latest failure such a surprise?
It might have worked if they cast it only with top shelf champion sportspeople/business leaders, etc, etc. Who ever needs to see trashy romance reality contestants again?
Never watched and never would, but so 10 were/are going to keep showing it well into the non ratings period? Odd.
In the past they referred to 50 week programming, but I haven’t heard that in a while. Nine and Seven have big brands on next week, wrapping by about Monday.
I’ll give most new reality ideas a go, but I draw the line at ex-reality contestants being treated as ‘celebrities’, especially the obnoxious ones. That being said I do admire 10 for trying new formats. I really enjoyed the Traitors and Hunted and I hope they both get a second season.
I accept the show had to be moved but Bondi Rescue Double Repeat and Ambulance Double Repeat do not exactly scream prime time material to me.
Summer is here next week, it will be full of repeats.
I say good on 10 for trying to put out new shows. And I’d rather watch whatever is on 10 than something boring like The Block on 9.
Is it important to try new formats, throw enough darts and some will stick, like Hunted.
They really need to give a new season of Masked Singer the green light. May be worth spinning it off and doing Mask Dancer.
I had mild interest in this show as a challenge based show, but now that I’ve seen clips of backstage reality and people hooking up and other useless reality drama I’m glad I never bothered.
Someone needs to be fired. Too many silly mistakes
I hope Ten starts investing in programs other than reality. They have some great shows, but the failure of Real Love Boat, The Traitors and The Challenge shows that there is a saturation point.
I also think that moving Celebrity, Survivor and Bachie could be a flop.
Having two episodes of The Challenge on the same night will affect the cast announcement for Australian Survivor: Heroes v Villains. Will they announce two contestants on the same night? Regarding Ghosts out of schedule, we are up to date with the US with all the available episodes having been shown. The next new episode of Ghosts is not due in America until December 8, so 10 will have time to find out another timeslot for the sitcom before the year is out.
They already announced on the Australian Survivor Twitter that the reveals will be during The Project instead.
They haven’t screened Ghosts #2.7 Dumb Deaths which is one I want to see. They will be screening the rest of the season next year, one more then won’t matter. I’m more interested in the UK Christmas Special.
10 put too many new shows…. The Challenge should screen on 10 Shake
Good on Ten for trialling some different formats in prime time. This always felt like a Paramount+ title more so than main channel. Maybe they should’ve tried The Bridge on the main channel, I was hooked on that series, the gameplay, the scenery, the foreboding soundtrack and ofcourse Hugo Weavings narration made it a really unique show.
Yeah I’m with you there totally, Sookers. I loved The Bridge and The Traitors and whilst I really hated the first two eps of The Challenge (and then I bailed), I love that 10 have tried new formats (to our screens at least).
Once I noticed the MTV logo on the Challenge branding I knew it was going to be cheap and ordinary. 10 should be looking to screen The Bridge now that it has already screened on Paramount. It looked like a quality production. A different type of reality – which is what the audience looking for.
