10 bumps The Challenge to 10 Shake

Struggling reality show The Challenge has now been pulled from its new timeslot on 10, and will play out remaining episodes on 10 Shake.

Next Monday the show screens at 8:30pm and 9:30pm on 10 Shake, after drawing just 96,000 and 72,000 metro viewers on 10.

Screening on 10 is:

7:30pm Bondi Rescue dbl rpt
8:30pm FBI Most Wanted dbl new

Daytime repeats are also out on 10.

  2. I think the move was for the best given the woeful ratings. 10 Shake though seems a strange place to put it given many of us regional viewers have no form of access to it and this program has not been on 10 Play at all weirdly enough.

    Hopefully this does send a little message about poor programming decisions.

  3. I have enjoyed it well enough and it is a shame that it is being bumped. I wonder why it didn’t connect, as I had thought that it would be a winner.

    My one possible theory is that these reality shows are too reliant on returning players & familiar faces – Survivor, BB, MasterChef, have all had their last season be returning player editions (if not their last few – All-Stars, Fans/Faves, ect), while other shows regularly cast previous contestants from other shows.

    While familiar faces is a part of the format of the original Challenge show (particularly from MTV shows), I wonder how it would have rated had we gotten 22 new faces.

    Also, I will say that I hope that Brihony gets to host another show – they was a great host with great energy (especially for a first time host) and it would be a shame not to see them on screen again just because they was tied to a show that didn’t rate.

  5. Why it’s only got 4 episodes left it’s non ratings now and bondi rescue repeats won’t rescue the ratings they could have just burned off the remaining episodes on the main channel

  6. Should never have been made! Did 10 expect any better, scheduling it in the last few weeks of the year when no one cares? Not to mention mostly z grade reality stars trying to stretch/reignite their 15mins (if they ever got that much in the first place).

    What a waste of time and money – but hey I think that sums up 10’s year more or less.

  7. At this point they would’ve been better bumping it to Paramount+ to drive a little subscriber growth. Or you know, just let it play out of the main channel, we’re out of ratings now for goodness sake! 10 is a complete basket case seriously.

  9. Disappointed it didn’t do well as a Long Time Challenge fan I’ve really enjoyed it better than most recent Seasons of MTV The Challenge I don’t think 10 did a good job building it up they should’ve introduced Australia to some American Season’s on 10play to familiar australians with the show

  10. They should’ve had it Sunday Monday Tuesday over the summer followed by US dramas at 8:30pm
    Is it really that difficult to run a network 💁‍♂️

  11. I actually didn’t mind watching this show although I must admit that I haven’t watched some of those reality shows that these contestants previously appeared in (Bachelor franchise, MAFS, etc). Personally, I do find the challenges more enjoyable to watch than those in Big Brother.

  12. That’s ridiculous. I get that it’s poorly rated, but they’ll lose more audience by moving to a channel that isn’t available nationwide. Plus, not everyone can access or afford somewhat decent internet to use 10play. Shame on you 10.

  13. Wow I hope TEN programming all get coals in their stockings for Christmas, what a disgraceful year. Yet the TEN execs mouth off like they are winning the ratings, I wonder what kind of Kool Aid they are drinking ? If you say it it will come ? Doubt it. Their Paramount overlords in the US of A must pay little attention to their struggling South Pacific outpost , otherwise there would be mass sackings at Pyrmont for sure. My Miniature Schnauzer could programme better than this mob, and he’s been dead for years.

  14. It’s like they didn’t even try to make a decent reality concept. They took contestants and influencers from other shows, then tweaked I’m A Celebrity… and came up with The Challenge.

    Hunted at least was a change from the love congregation shows. And probably why it fared better.

    1. The Challenge is a American MTV reality show that’s been going on since 1998 it’s supposed to stars from previous shows this is just a Australian version

      1. Used to watch MTV (Australia) a lot back then, and couldn’t remember that, but I know of many MTV shows, so it can also be a marketing and perception issue.

        Maybe they should’ve called it The Cribs Challenge and have it in celebrity properties. Other MTV shows are more familiar with a profile.

  15. What’s 10 Shake? We dont seem to have it here in Regional Victoria. Not surprised The Challenge dumped as it was dreadful. Most of the time it was just former reality people trying to regain their 15 minutes of fame by yelling and abusing each other. Lucky if you got 10 minutes of a challenge that was usually pretty lame compared to those on Survivor or Amazing Race. Think a few of them, particularly sporting stars, may have damaged their reputation by being on that show. Sponsors arent going to like a lot of their behaviour!

    1. Some parts of Regional VIC have 10Shake. 10 Shake is a youth multichannel on Ch13 launched in Sep 2020. The channel broadcasts programs for little kids from 6am to 6pm, and young teens and adults from 6pm to 6am.
