Apple TV+ has cancelled The Mosquito Coast after two seasons.
The series starred Justin Theroux as a radical idealist and brilliant inventor who uproots his family to live in Latin America when they suddenly find themselves on the run from the US government.
Australia’s Melissa George played his wife.
Based on the book by Theroux’s own uncle, novelist Paul Theroux, it was previously adapted into a 1986 film starring Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren & River Phoenix.

I watched season 1 of Mosquito Coast mostly because I liked Justine Theroux’s performance in The Leftovers. The self obsessed characters based on the film screenplay are not that empathic or pleasant people so I was not sure what to expect from what must have been intended to become a long running series. My early assumption proved correct, that Mosquito Coast was better served by Peter Weir’s original 1986 movie, so avoided season 2.
good decision…..season 1 was good, stopped watching part way through season 2….Melissa George is terrible.
Season one was great and really enjoyed it… Season two was a shocker… it was apparent half way through the season that season three was not going to happen…
