FIFA Women’s World Cup: NZ v USA friendly

Optus Sport will be broadcasting five women’s international friendlies in the lead up to the FIFA Women's World Cup.

Optus Sport will be broadcasting five women’s international friendlies in the lead up to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand.

The action kicks off with double header between co-host New Zealand and reigning champions USA on Wednesday.

Head of Optus Sport Howard Rees said: “We are delighted to continue our investment in women’s football, and we’re looking forward to welcoming the New Zealand team as well as the reigning world champions USA to our screens, ahead of our host coverage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in July.”

Optus Sport customers will get an early look at one of the favourites to lift the World Cup come the final in Sydney/Gadigal later this year, with the likes of two-time World Cup winner Alex Morgan and Lyon superstar Lindsey Horan gracing Optus Sport screens in January.

The first friendlies in Wellington kicks off at 2pm (AEDT) on Wednesday, 18 January before the two sides face off again at Eden Park for another 2pm (AEDT) kick off on Saturday, 21 January.

In addition, Optus Sport will also broadcast three further New Zealand internationals live and exclusively in February as momentum continues to build towards the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™.

Starting with the visit of Portugal ahead of their play-off tournament for one of the final three places in Australia and New Zealand before back to back games with Argentina, which will feature in Group G of this winter’s showpiece event.
