OzTAM reissues ratings for last Sunday
A production error leads to new data for last Sunday night.

OzTAM has advised of a correction for ratings numbers for last Sunday January 22nd, due to a Nielsen polling production issue.
Nielsen have reissued Metropolitan and National Subscription Overnight, Consolidated 7 and Consolidated 28 viewing data for the research days Sunday 22/01/23, 15/01/23 and 25/12/2022, respectively (only day 7 of playback viewing for 15/1/23, and day 28 of playback viewing for 25/12/22, are affected by the re-release).
There was no change to the order of share rankings, but Nine & Seven shares went up.
Nine Network was 34.1%; now 34.8%
Seven Network was 24.8%; now 25.1%
ABC Network share was 18.2%; now 17.8%
10 Network was 13.6%; now 13.2%
SBS Network was 9.2%; now 9.1%
In the Top 20 Programs 1 to 13 remain unchanged.
However #14 Weekend Sunrise – Sun and #15 Seven News at 5 swapped places.
Antiques Roadshow moves up from # 20 to equal # 17/18.
10 News First Sunday 6pm moves from # 18 to # 19.
The Sunday Project 6.30pm moves into # 20, displacing the 2023 Australian Open D7 – Pre Match session (S/M/B/A only, no Perth).
Total TV average audience rises +10.5% from 1,992,000 to 2,201,000.
OzTAM advised, “We regret any inconvenience caused. Nielsen have identified the cause of the issue and modified their processes to prevent a recurrence.”

It’s quite a serious issue when it happens. It doesn’t happen often though. However, by the time the corrections are made, it’s too late and the corrections aren’t rectified in a manner that alleviates the errors. It’s not only TV ratings, as it has happened in the ARIA music charts and in other media as well on a rare occasion. It’s usually just an obscure retraction notice.
It’s unfortunate and unfair for people to not get the recognition or standing that they actually deserve. Errors will be made as that’s part of being human, however, there should be safeguards in place to prevent that. It’s not the first time this has happened in TV ratings.
I thought some stunning revelation that The Project or Studio 10’s ratings went up!
