Charges against Andrew O’Keefe dropped, but separate charges pending.

Six charges withdrawn after alleged victim leaves the country, but former TV host still facing domestic violence charges.

Six charges against former Chase host Andrew O’Keefe have been dropped, but separate charges remain.

O’Keefe was due to to fight allegations of assault and intentionally choking a woman without consent, today.

But Prosecutor Michael Cleaver has told Downing Centre Local Court the alleged victim had returned to her home country and they failed to get her to testify.

“They are not in the jurisdiction and our capacity to have the witness appear has been unsuccessful,” Sergeant Cleaver said.

O’Keefe maintained he was he acting in self defence to allegations he grabbed a 38-year-old woman by the throat and pushed her to the ground on January 25 last year.

Six charges relating to the incident have now been withdrawn including two counts of intentionally choking a person without consent, three counts of common assault and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

However O’Keefe will still face a two-day hearing on domestic violence charges in relation to a separate woman — common assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm — as well as one count of resisting an officer in execution of duty.

O’Keefe has pleaded guilty to one count of contravening an apprehended violence order.

He also pleaded guilty to a separate drug possession charge on 11 February last year and he was yet to enter a plea on a second drug possession charge.
