Georgie Chumbley joins Sunrise

New Briabane based reporter begins from late March.

Brisbane based Seven reporter Georgie Chumbley has been appointed the new Queensland reporter for Sunrise, following the departure of Bianca Stone.

The 31-year-old has been based in the Brisbane newsroom since 2017, following stints in Toowoomba, Mackay and the Sunshine Coast, and 18 months in Darwin.

She joins Sydney-based Mylee Hogan and Teegan Dolling in Melbourne, appearing daily on the Seven breakfast show. from Monday, 27 March.

Executive Producer, Sean Power, said: “Georgie’s passion for everything Queensland is red hot and we’re thrilled she’s joining Sunrise. Georgie is going to make a terrific addition to our dedicated team of passionate local reporters who love breaking news every morning, and telling stories that matter to their community.”

Chumbley said: “It’s such a privilege to tell Queenslanders’ stories and I’m so excited to get the opportunity to share them with the rest of the country. I’ve grown up here and watched Brisbane shift from a big country town to a thriving city. We have so much to offer and with so many Sydneysiders and Victorians moving here … the rest of Australia is now catching on. I can’t wait to see you on Sunrise!”

  1. All I can say is I hope she keeps her hands from doing the talking. It’s so distracting when a reporter is waving their hands around especially doing the weather like she occasionally does on 7 here in Brisbane and the hands are obscuring the weather map. Tony Auden doesn’t do it no do does Paul Burt.
