  1. I am not a reality person per se….but I have been watching MAFS 2nd screen as I watch 9News then ACA ..I leave it on 9 as I want to watch the following programs like Big Miracles, Under Investigation. The Hundred etc… I have kinda got involved with Jesse ……oh well …

  2. I’ ve watched a little bit of Idol this time round, and I do agree that the talent level in 2023 is not outstanding, I haven’t seen anyone that could become another Guy Sebastian or Jess Mauboy. I suspect the ultimate winner won’t go that far in the music industry. Amy Shark is the best of the 4 judges, the other 3 don’t do much for me. Megan Trainor is just there to promote her new music, I suspect.
Out of the 3 reality shows all competing against each other currently, Australian Survivor is the best of the lot – love him or hate him, George is a compelling personality, ditto for Shonee and Liz.
Last night I watched Death in Paradise followed by Vera!

  3. The big problem with Idol is, all the talent went to The Voice and they were then not allowed to compete on Idol so we are basically left with the leftovers. I hate saying that because there are a few talented singers but it just lacks the talent we’ve seen on The Voice in the past two seasons. Seven really should have put the eggs into The Voice and bring back the live shows there instead of trying to reimagine Idol for 2023. I still can’t believe people actually watch MAFS. Its terrible but i guess people love trash tv.

  4. If you just look at the TikTok videos being shared by Seven of the final 12 performances you can see particularly among younger viewers where Idol is failing to gain traction and will confine to not gain traction. Pub Karaoke is being thrown around a lot on Tik Tok which means the talent pool for the final 12 isn’t cutting it to attract viewers.

I suspect a big shake up next year if Seven does give it another shot.

  5. I really think networks have overestimated the importance of Olivia Newton-John to the general public, as those are terrible numbers for each respective network. I personally believe screening Olivia’s state funeral on multiple networks was a mistake and should have just been shown on one. It also looks bad for ABC to show it across two channels and still come out third.

  6. In all the (many) Idol promos (that have all included the word live in them) I have not seen an artist to make me stop & say I want to watch this program. First time I have ever felt that about Idol.

  7. I’m very curious to see how Idol’s results show goes tonight. The results shows were often long and tedious 20 years ago when people had far fewer viewing options to choose from. I’m not sure how an hour long show for a 20 second pay off at the end will cut it in the current environment.
