  1. Is there any explanation why Melbourne audiences for all shows are much higher than Sydney’s? Or is that in Melbourne more people watch FTA ? The other observation is that TEN seems to do much better in Melbourne and Brisbane. I know the TVO brand was very strong in the early days of Brisbane.

    1. This gets asked quite a bit. There’s no concrete answer but some of the theories: cooler weather brings more people indoors (yesterday was sunny tho, it probably factors more in winter), strong arts culture, greater Foxtel penetration in Sydney. Seprately, Seven very strong in Perth & Adelaide.

      1. Another theory: historically, Foxtel had the rugby (big in NSW and QLD) potentially adding to their penetration. Foxtel no longer has the rugby so the theory falls apart at this point.
