Oops. Not Susie O’Neill.

New Olympics broadaster makes an early boo-boo on the day it announced mega-deal.

Nine excitedly announced its $305m 9 year deal with the IOC late yesterday.

On Nine News Brisbane a report trumpeting the deal included comment from gold medal swimmer Leisel Jones.

But it titled her incorrectly as fellow Olympian Susie O’Neill.

Paris 2024 is a little over a year away, so fingers crossed it isn’t a sign of things to come…

  1. Although not that good for the Olympians involved we do live in an imperfect world and not everything always go to plan, there has been worse happen on the news and live TV. After all we are all human including those working to put the news together. Reminds me of getting your homework back with red ink crossing out all your mistakes for the entire class to see so hopefully Nine will learn from their mistakes too.

  2. Wrong Olympian in this case, but Nine’s supers being wrong is pretty much a daily occurrence on the 6pm news now. I presume it’s an automation issue, but it’s really embarrassing and they don’t seem to be able to fix it.
