Prime Video unveils plans for Neighbours archive

All episodes from 2012 season plus select classic episodes to begin from late February.

Prime Video has announced a selection of Neighbours episodes will launch on the streaming service on 23 February.

The drop will include the all episodes from Season “2012,” featuring the show’s memorable first kiss between characters Chris and Aidan, as well as Toadie’s heartwarming proposal to Sonya, and Lucas and Vanessa’s dramatic wedding day.

Additionally, a selection of the most legendary episodes will also screen, including a variety of episodes featuring actors Margot Robbie, Russell Crowe, Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Guy Pearce, Natalie Imbruglia, and Liam Hemsworth.

After the initial drop, a library season will launch on the service every month until the show’s return later this year.

10 retains first run rights for new episodes in Australia, screening a week later on Prime Video.

Prime Video customers in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, and South Africa will also have access to the previous seasons and episodes. The episodes will be available on Prime Video in Australia and New Zealand on 23 February.

The continuation of the long-running daily drama series—about the lives, loves, and challenges of the residents on Ramsay Street in Erinsborough, Australia, a fictional suburb of Melbourne—follows the finale in 2022, which was watched by millions of adoring fans. The revitalised series will premiere exclusively on Amazon Freevee in the UK and U.S, for free. Last year, Amazon Freevee and Fremantle announced they would be bringing back Neighbours with Stefan Dennis, Alan Fletcher, Ryan Moloney, and Jackie Woodburne returning to reprise their leading roles. The series will also stream on Prime Video in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, and South Africa. Production is set to commence early this year with a world premiere slated for the second half of the year.

Neighbours ran for more than three decades and nearly 9,000 episodes, garnering fans across the globe and launching the careers of many household names. The Australian show has screened in multiple countries during its reign, including the UK, airing on both BBC One and, most recently, Channel 5, since its launch in 1985. The final episode of Neighbours aired in July 2022 and featured guest star appearances from Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce, Jason Donovan, and Margot Robbie.

Neighbours is produced by Fremantle. Jason Herbison, Neighbours’ executive producer since 2013, will maintain his position on the exciting new chapter of Neighbours, with Andrew Thompson returning as producer.

Australia’s Network 10, which aired Neighbours for 36 years, will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new chapter of the series. The revitalised series will also be available ad free on Prime Video in Australia and New Zealand seven days following the free to air viewing of the new series.

  1. That promo really made the 2012 episodes look good. Perhaps they will garner a new young audience on streaming. Like has happened with Friends and other shows. (And how fit was Toadie that year!)

  2. Personally I would love either network/service to show neighbours from episode 1 onwards as nostalgia

Seven did this years ago with home and away starting from the start and they put it on seven two

    1. They did, but they ran into contractual issues a few years into the run and had to stop showing early episodes.

I think something similar would be in play with Neighbours.
