The Blacklist confirms final season

Raymond Reddington to hang up his hat and close the book with upcoming season.

Long-running US crime series The Blacklist starring James Spader is ending with its upcoming 10th season.

“After 10 years, hundreds of Blacklist cases and more than 200 episodes produced, we’re honored to reach our conclusion,” showrunner and executive producer John Eisendrath ssaid in a statement. “It’s been incredibly fun to create the strange, devious and delightful Blacklisters to challenge Raymond Reddington and our FBI Task Force each week. We would like to thank everyone at NBC and Sony, our extraordinary crew who make the impossible happen every day, our endlessly inventive writers and producers, and our remarkable cast who brought life to these characters. We appreciate our dedicated fanbase who came along for this wonderful ride and are excited to share this final season with them.”

The news was confirmed in a trailer for the 10th season which screens stateside from the end of the month.

“When all this began, I was such a different person. It’s quite a story,” Red (Spader) says in the clip. “When you love someone, you have no control. That’s what love is.”

Joining Spader for the final season are Diego Klattenhoff, Hisham Tawfiq, Anya Banerjee and Harry Lennix. S10 also features the show’s 200th episode.

A date for Seven in Australia is yet to be confirmed.

  1. Knowing it’s the last season will hopefully give us fans all the pieces to the riddle. Agree that S9 was pretty woeful. But glad Elizabeth left the show – she was becoming redundant. Love Spader’s work.

  2. Reddington promised the FBI information on 200 Blacklisters. Boone wanted wanted to leave the show and at that point Reddington was terminally ill and looking to hand over his empire and finally reveal the big secret. She only appeared minimally in S8 so they could finish up Keen’s story. The renewal for S9 & 10 looked like a deal with Spader was reached to finish up the show with 200 episodes for syndication. S9 was a bit of a mess, they tipped the audience off that Marvin was the one trying to take down Reddington, he was in the car with Reddington when he got the information from Cooper needed to tip off a suspect. The fact that they published an episode list with the last two eps being Marvin Gerard 1 & 2 didn’t help. Hopefully we will get to see how it ends now.
