“The hardest part was actually telling her she wasn’t going to be on Gogglebox anymore”

Isabelle and Kerry Silberry speak about matriarch Emmie no longer featuring on Gogglebox.

Gogglebox‘s Isabelle and Kerry Silberry last night spoke to The Project about 94 year old Emmie Milligan entering care and the difficulty in telling her she could no longer participate in the show, following her dementia diagnosis.

“The hardest part was actually telling her she wasn’t going to be on Gogglebox anymore,” Kerry told Sarah Harris.

“She said, ‘I’m perfectly alright! I’m not gaga!’”

“This is real life. Emmie is no longer able to do the show, and we wanted to be really transparent about that and not have her disappear off the couch,” said Isabelle.

At 94 years of age, Emmie was the oldest regularly working face on television.

In 2019 she told TV Tonight, “I love the experience of Gogglebox. The crew are like family and being with Isabelle and Kerry is so easy as we have always spent so much time together. The only thing I can’t stand is watching vacuous and superficial reality shows. I’d rather have a nap.”

  1. Truely sad, treasure every moment you have with your parents and grandparents…I lost my father 3 weeks before he turned 102, he was so with it and fiercely independent to the last and I’m so grateful for that. Some think they’re going to last forever but sadly no. I wish Emma only the best going forward.

  2. Very sad, but Emmie’s done really well to last until 94, before getting the diagnosis. My Mum has been recently diagnosed at 79, and there are surely devastating aspects that go with.
