“What the hell are you doing here?”

A Sunrise switcheroo as Monique Wright fills in for Natalie Barr who grabs a flight to Melbourne for important interview.

“Right across Australia, this is Sunrise on Seven. Now, live from Brekky Central, Kochie & Nat,” said a voice over at 8am.

But viewers suddenly saw Monique Wright alongside David Koch, having replaced Natalie Barr who vanished without so much as a goodbye.

“What the hell are you doing here?” Kochie asked Wright.

“Nat’s just scurried out and I happened to have been under the couch!” Wright replied.

The switcheroo was due to a flight Barr had to catch for an interview.

Koch explained, “Breaking news – we just received a call, and Nat’s got an exclusive interview, so she’s dashing to the airport as we speak. We’ll bring that to you tomorrow. In the meantime Mnoique’s in the chair for the rest for the rest of this morning.”

TV Tonight understands the interview is in Melbourne with John Easterling and Chloe Lattanzi, following the Olivia Newton-John State Memorial.

The pair are also speaking to The Project on Wednesday night -but no word of a Richard Wilkins or David Campbell chat despite their crucial roles in Sunday’s memorial.

Update:

Sunrise will air an Australian breakfast TV exclusive with the family of the late Dame Olivia Newton-John, AC DBE, tomorrow morning on Channel 7 and 7plus.

In an emotional sit down with Sunrise co-host Natalie Barr, Olivia’s daughter Chloe Lattanzi and husband John Easterling share their heartbreak at losing the much-loved Grease and Xanadu star last year; and reveal how they are turning their pain into purpose and hope.

After supporting her mother’s 30-year battle with breast cancer, Lattanzi tells Sunrise she has been inspired to continue her work as a wellness warrior: “Seeing what people go through with cancer, there’s no greater mission.”

In awe of her mother’s grace in her final days, Lattanzi reveals “she was just so courageous and woke up every day with a smile.”

The grieving family also make a special announcement.

Speaking from Melbourne, where the interview was filmed today, Barr says: “The world knew her as the beautiful singer with the angelic voice, but now Chloe and John have sat down with me to share the part of Olivia only they saw.

“It was an emotional interview but a really funny one too, with two people who dearly loved Australia’s sweetheart.”

Easterling and Lattanzi will also speak with A Current Affair.

  1. The burning question… What exactly was the point of Nat rocking up to Martin Place this morning, when she could’ve already been in or on her way to Melbourne well before then? And does anyone really believe Monique just happened to be there! Cynical me thinks they did that on purpose for publicity… And it worked. And on a morning it came through they were defeated in the ratings too, double ouch.
