Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to mark 30th Anniversary

“It's morphing time!” for a new film as superhero franchise reaches a milestone.

Those Power Rangers are about to reach their 30th Anniversary with a new film on Netflix, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers began in 1983 on FOX Kids, moving production to New Zealand in 2002. It also screened on ABC Kids (USA), Jetix and Nickelodeon before moving to Netflix in 2021.

Marking the TV series’ 30th anniversary, Netflix’s special reunites original cast members Walter E. Jones (Zack, Black Ranger), David Yost (Billy, Blue Ranger), Catherine Sutherland (Kat, Pink Ranger), Steve Cardenas (Rocky, Red Ranger), Karan Ashley (Aisha, Yellow Ranger), and Johnny Yong Bosch (Adam, Black Ranger).

Amongst its former Aussie cast have been Firass Dirani, Antonia Prebble, Jason Smith, Melanie Vallejo, Richard Brancatisano, and Vernon Wells.

The new film was also shot in NZ.

Thirty years after the wise and powerful Zordon formed the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the team comes face to face with a familiar threat from the past. In the midst of a global crisis, they are called on once again to be the heroes the world needs.

This 30th Anniversary Special is inspired by the legendary mantra from the franchise “Once a Ranger, Always a Ranger,” meaning once you become part of the Ranger family, you are always welcome back.

Wednesday April 19 on Netflix.
