Renewed: You confirms final season

Penn Badgley to reprise his role as a serial killer in fifth and final season.

Netflix thriller You has been confirmed for a fith and final season.

Penn Badgley will reprise his role as serial killer Joe but showrunner Sera Gamble is stepping down with executive producers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo to succeed her.

Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter of Bertlanti Productions said in a statement, “We intend to bring her every idea we can from our company for years to come. Ever since our friends at Alloy shared Caroline Kepnes’ fantastic book, we have always conceived it as a five-season journey. We are excited to continue our relationship with Mike and Justin as they take over the reins as co-showrunners and prepare to bring Joe Goldberg home.”

“Making the show alongside our writers, producers, directors, cast and crew has been an honor and ridiculously fun. And I feel lucky to have worked with an artist as gifted and thoughtful as Penn Badgley. I’m proud of what we’ve all accomplished and feel privileged to pass the torch,” said Gamble.

“I’m excited to watch and support the You team as they bring Joe Goldberg’s journey to its delightfully twisted conclusion.”

  1. I feel the same way about S4. The first episode was excellent but my attention has steadily decreased since. A shame, because the first three seasons are fantastic… it has to be said that Penn Badgley has created one of the great modern TV characters with Joe, he’s been flawless. Bring it home with a strong final season and all will be forgiven for a lacklustre penultimate run.
