Nine has released a trailer for upcoming reality series The Summit, hosted by Jai Courtney.
Set amid the spectacular backdrop of New Zealand’s South Island, the series sees 14 strangers they set out with backpacks containing an equal share of one million dollars. They must reach the peak of a distant mountain in 14 days to win the massive amount of cash.
Along the journey they’ll need to work as a team as they tackle dangerous terrain, wild weather conditions, and overcome adrenaline-charged challenges that block their path to the mountain peak.
Produced by Endemol Shine Australia, the original series juggles endurance, survival and greed.
How many of the 14 will reach the summit in time – and who will walk away with the cash?
An airdate is yet to be announced.

Lots of comparisons already in the comments, but this is pretty much 100% identical to MTV’s Stranded with a Million Dollars down to the contestants carrying the money in backpacks (just swap tropical island for icy mountain). Still looks good though!
I’m tipping this is filmed in The Remarkables at either Fox Glazier or Frans Josef Glazier which are absolutely stunning places. I just wish all contentment well because if you’re afraid of heights or helicopters and “loose your bottle” (fear like you’ve never known before) it’s hard to deal with and get over it…I’m speaking from experience.
This format is a direct copy of a challenge from Netflix’s The Mole where they had cash in a backpack climbing a mountain.
There will be elements similar from others in the genre, as readers have noted, but not a direct copy.
