Re Sydney channel 9 news, I used to be a staunch ch 7 news person till 6 years ago, then changed to 9. Then the pandemic hit. Then our former Premier Gladys Berejiklian resigned last year. My fave one to date. She really cared about Sydney via the daily updates including Sundays. After her resignation, I then noticed channel 9’s news ratings declining. And has done ever since. My fave news reader is Peter Overton., next is Mark Burrows/also reporter. Whats also concerning is the amount of viewer discrepancy. Many thousands. It should only be a matter of up to 20-100. Not thousands.
I thoroughly enjoyed this weeks ep of Back in Time for the Corner Shop. Love how its now changing weekly with the different eras. Without giving away my age, I missed the bodgie era by a decade. (I dont look my age and never have. Look years younger). I love how the shop exterior/interior and the families clothing is also changing weekly to reflect the era being done. Also enjoying the various guest stars appearing. I have also enjoyed seeing how over the decades, the food wrappings/containers have changed also reflecting the times, and how the Ferrones have served the customers. ie the brown paper wrapping/string. This show should be mandatory viewing for all primary, high schools and Uni’s to show how life has evolved over 200 years, I hope the show will be nominated in the Logies as it deserves to win.
Very low numbers for nine news melbourne 7 news big win any reason ?
That gap is unusually large. Nine is really starting to struggle in Melbourne. Seven has been firing on all cylinders since Rebecca Maddern was added to the weekend news bulletins.
Agreed on the numbers for Melbourne but even Nine’s Sydney numbers have dropped off a lot (rather than sevens increasing). Brisbane historically has been close and of course seven have owned Adelaide and Perth for ages.
You’re right. Nine’s Sydney news audience has declined as well, while Seven’s has remained somewhat stable. I don’t know exactly what is ailing Nine News at the moment on the east coast. It is probably just viewers tuning out and looking to other sources for news, as bulletins on Ten and the ABC have also seen their audiences drop in the past few years.
It’s been written a fair bit that seven tend to skew to the older demographic so perhaps the younger demo is finding news else where but the development over these last few months has been significant.
