Dannii Minogue hosts Brit gay dating series

10 single guys are matched up, and meet for the first time in Britain's first ever gay dating show.

Dannii Minogue will host the UK’s first ever gay dating show, I Kissed a Boy.

While Britain has screened other formats, Playing It Straight UK, The Bi Life, this marks the first with all gay males.

In the BBC Three series, 10 single guys are matched up, and meet for the first time… with a kiss. No small talk. No messages. Just one kiss to test out their chemistry straight away. Will it be a polite peck? Or a passionate snog? And ultimately, will that first kiss lead to love?

“I Kissed a Boy is packed with explosive drama, gripping cliffhangers and powerful untold stories – from coming out in a strict religious family, to the pressures of body image in the gay dating scene, to navigating self-acceptance, sex and first same sex relationships,” the BBC states.

“Serving joy, entertainment and a sparkling soundtrack full of gay anthems, I Kissed a Boy is the ground-breaking show that will celebrate the queer community and invites all viewers to join the party.”

Dannii Minogie said, “I have had the privilege of being involved with the LGBTQ+ community for many years. I am a staunch ally, and in return I have always been welcomed with support that always feels like a huge hug. It is an honour to host this show and flex my muscles as fairy godmother/cupid in helping these gorgeous humans in their search for love. When dating fatigue sets in and you are tired of swiping right, or you have not had the opportunity to meet enough potential dates – Mama Minogue is here to help.”

Narrating the series is actor Layton Williams (Bad Education).

And Australian broadcaster is yet to be announced.

  1. I’m going to bring up the demographic word again. Only because Australia has a lower population than the UK. This is applicable for any show that has minority or underrepresented groups. They’ve got to make it appeal to the mainstream (if ratings are wanted).

I quite liked the dating show Dressed To Impress, which is a staple on UK television, and was shown on Channel Nine before. They often feature LGBTQ+ cast and gay dating. And it promotes fashion, style, shopping and retailing, which is universal. I think an Australian version of Dressed To Impress might do well.

The takeaway is that if it’s relatable or relevant for everyone, it’ll appeal beyond the initial target audience.

  2. I had to wonder when we would see a gay dating show. Great to see the BBC giving this format a go. It could help overcome some of the stigma that surrounds the gay community.

    1. Could be rated R for those who Ridicule and think a person’s sexual preference is funny…..but as previously quoted….Hey relax it’s just an expression in a good sense (that’s a matter of opinion)…..alls good in the TVT universe…..Oh really. 🥱
