Dr. Chris Brown: “The greatest professional privilege of my life”

There were tears in the jungle as one of TV's brightest duos acknowledged the last of their Live TV chemistry.

Dr. Chris Brown made his farewell speech last night in his penultimate episode of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, as nine seasons alongside Julia Morris draws to a close.

Brown, who has signed with Seven network, told viewers he didn’t want to detract from the winners in Sunday night’s finale in South Africa.

Figting back tears, Julia Morris, who was first paired with Brown at a Logie nominations event, said, “My beloved doctor, we became co hosts on this crazy celebrity show. And here we are, nine years later, I was meant to get through that like a joke, guys, but I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart, I’m heartbroken to say goodbye to my beloved doctor. ”

She continued, “Australia has loved seeing a different side to you. And on this show where else we’ll ever get to have this much fun?”

Brown said, “This has honestly been the greatest professional privilege of my life to host this show alongside you. And it’s because of the stuff you don’t see at home… this incredible crew that’s 400 strong. It’s our blended family that we are all so close with. And it’s this incredible creative force that comes together like you cannot imagine.”

He said of Julia Morris, “Nine years ago when when people said it was crazy to pair a vet with a comedian, we both laughed. And we both laughed a lot at the time, because we knew that we clicked.”

“Romantically!” she joked.

“And we knew that we had something special, and I don’t think I ever could have imagined how special it would be, where that spark would take us and the connection we would have. I just want to say it’s been an honour, it’s been a privilege, and I really hope and I’m sure, this is not the last time we experienced this spark. It’ll take us to so many places I’m quite sure,” he said.

Meanwhile the show also locked onto its final three: Liz Ellis, Aisha Scott and Harry Garside as both Adam Cooney and Nathan Henry were eliminated from camp.

On Sunday one of them will win $100,000 for their chosen charity.

7:30pm Sunday on 10.

  1. Dr Chris Brown will be missed. 😭Best wishes for his future at Seven. Possible replacements are Joel Creasey, Heather Maltman (they hosted together I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! Now!) and Scott Tweedie (he presented Saturday Schoolies).

  2. I have the very unpopular opinion that I just don’t find Julia Morris funny at all? I find her very childish! Also, not keen on the flirting between them both. It’ll certainly be interesting to see if Julia follows Chris to Seven and who the Doctor’s replacement is on IMACGMOOH!

    1. What a great idea. These two are great together. The Logies needs a host. It’s so dry, generic and structured without a host(s). These two would bring a welcome spark to the night!!!

  3. Loved the tribute to Dr. Chris. Sad that he’s leaving IACGMOOH, but good luck with whatever he does at Channel 7. And I’ll be interested to see who Channel 10 replaces him with.

  4. He will be an extremely tough act to follow.
Will be a crucial decision to select the right replacement.

    Tommy Little? Matt Agnew?

Chris’ comments indicated that he deeply hopes to work with Julia again. Maybe 7 will look to poach her?

    1. I think Matt Shirvington, Michael Usher or Matt Doran would also be in the mix to succeed Kochie, especially since they’ve all been on Sunrise and already at 7 for quite a while.

  5. I know they are not for everyone but you can’t deny that they have chemistry – like some old time Vaudeville comedic duo (and I mean that as a compliment). I don’t watch Celeb too often but if I do watch, I do tend to enjoy the OTT silliness of the hosting pair.

I hope they get reunited as an on screen pair.

  6. The main reason i watch this show is the realationship these two have..i find them hilarious! It will be interesting to see if the show survives Chris’s departure…Harry for the win for me…sad to see Adam leave..had never heard of him before but found him to be one of the nicest, most humble people ive ever watched on tv..all the best to you and your family Adam.
