Insiders: Apr 2

Guest: Opposition Leader Peter Dutton.

Guest on Sunday’s Insiders is Opposition Leader Peter Dutton.

David Speers is joined by Niki Savva, Phil Coorey and Raf Epstein to analyse the Aston by-election result. Will the Liberals hold the mortgage-belt seat? Or will Labor be the first government since the 1920s to take a seat off the opposition at a by-election. It’s the first major electoral test of Anthony Albanese’s government and Peter Dutton’s leadership.

The Opposition Leader Peter Dutton will join David live in the Melbourne studio for an interview.

It’s also been an incredibly busy week in parliament – the final sitting week before the May Budget – with the government and the Greens reaching a deal to pass the climate bill. The government didn’t have as much luck with its $10b Housing Affordability Future Fund.

We’ll also discuss the Voice to Parliament following the introduction of the constitutional alteration bill yesterday by Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus.

Plus Mike Bowers is Talking Pictures with Alex Ellinghausen.

Sunday 9am on ABC.

  1. In my opinion LNP opposition leader Peter Dutton still has to raise his profile more if he wants to be a potential future Prime Minister, but it looks like it will a long road ahead of him, even if Labor provide the LNP a few political free kicks along the way. Hopefully Mr. Dutton will appear more than his predecessors did on the ABC in the future.
