On 7News Spotlight this Sunday, former Liberal party staffer Bruce Lehrmann will give his side to a high profile story.

Liam Bartlett will interview the man who was accused of the rape of Brittany Higgins at Parliament House.

Mr Lehrmann pleaded not guilty, was never convicted and the charge against him was dropped in December, 2022. He maintains his innocence.

Executive producer Mark Llewellyn told news.com.au Lehrmann was not paid for the interview.

He also denied paying any other intermediary to organise the interview.

“No one was paid,‘’ he said.

“7News Spotlight made no payment to Bruce Lehrmann for the interview, however the program assisted with accommodation as part of the filming of the story.”

Yesterday he dropped defamation proceedings against News Corp’s News Life Media however it is unclear if legal proceedings are continuing against Network 10 and ABC.

It is the most controversial legal saga in recent history, one that has ferociously divided public opinion, rocked the foundations of the Federal Government in Canberra, destroyed careers and sullied reputations.

Through it all, the man accused of a shocking sexual assault has remained silent. Until now.

In the most explosive interview of the year, Bruce Lehrmann sits down with 7NEWS Spotlight’s Liam Bartlett to tell his side of the story for the first time.

Nothing is off limits as he answers questions about what happened when he entered a ministerial suite with Brittany Higgins in the early hours of Saturday 23 March 2019.
