Airdate: Expedition Everest

Nat Geo doco explores the impact of climate change on one of Earth’s most extreme locations.

Last week Nine pulled a documentary Lost on Everest but tonight will screen Expedition Everest following The Summit.

This  National Geographic doco follows an expedition team of geologists, glacial experts, biologists, geographers and climate scientists who conduct the most extensive scientific expedition ever undertaken on the mountain.

It is narrated by Tate Donovan (Damages, The OC, The Man in the High Castle).

Expedition Everest sees the notorious Khumbu Glacier mapped in stunning detail, biologists studying extreme lifeforms, and a team of Sherpas and scientists climbing straight towards the “death zone” to install the highest weather station in the world.

The groundbreaking project illuminates the threats posed by melting glaciers to the nearby Himalayan communities, and offers insights into the motivations of the team willing to risk their lives to study the impact of climate change on one of Earth’s most extreme locations.

Expedition Everest is produced by National Geographic Studios, with Katie Bauer Murdock as director and producer, Christine Weber and Vanessa Serrao as executive producers, and Katherine Chivers as associate producer.

8:55pm Tuesday on Nine.
