Nine is not returning to Snackmasters after two seasons.
A spokesperson told Daily Mail “Snackmasters isn’t in the schedule for 2023,” which is TV talk for if-we-decide-to-revive-it-later-we’ll-let-you-know.
The series was hosted by Poh Ling Yeow & Scott Pickett with Yvie Jones as a ‘food detective’ on the factory floor.
Based on a UK format it saw experienced chefs compete to replicate famous snacks such as Twisties, Drumsticks, Whoppers, Cadbury Favourites, Tim Tams, Four’N Twenty pies and Domino’s pizzas.
That made the Warner Bros TV series advertiser-friendly and ripe for a December non-ratings treat.
But after two seasons Nine has knocked out its knockout cooking competition. The network has a chequered history with food formats, but next pins its hopes on Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars which is believed to have completed filming this week.

That’s too bad about Snackmasters. I really liked that show.
I suspect we’re losing our appetite(pardon the pun) for cooking contest reality programs, perhaps only Masterchef now gets a decent audience. And the production costs for those programs would be high also.
I think the first season was ok
But the concept is limited
Agreed. There are only so many popular snacks to go around, and not all of them are Snackmasters material.
It was a painfully long show to watch. Each episode just dragged on and on.
A shorter, snappier version would have been more tolerable.
Agreed. One wonders if a whole series was really needed and a two-part show would have kept it succinct. Viewers are usually fatigued by the end of the year (when the show was broadcast) and out of about during summer time so commitment might have been harder. But then Nine might have had challenges signing up potential product partners and advertisers for such a short run concept. Just be lucky it got up and ran for as long as it did.
