MasterChef Australia to screen from Sunday on 10

10 season to screen with full support of family, preceded by a tribute edition of The Sunday Project.

10 will screen MasterChef Australia from 7:30pm Sunday, with full support from the family of Jock Zonfrillo.

It follows 10’s plan to halt broadcast across this week, following his sudden death.

In a statement, 10 said, “MasterChef Australia Judge Jock Zonfrillo took great pride in challenging and coaching the contestants and of course inspiring a nation of home cooks.

“It is with Jock in our hearts that we cherish this season and remember the charismatic and big-hearted Judge and Chef who we knew and loved. Jock will be remembered in the MasterChef Australia kitchen for years to come.

“A special edition of The Sunday Project will pay tribute to Jock from 6.30pm on Sunday, 7 May.

“With contributions from friends, he held closely, the show will honour Jock by reflecting on his personal and professional life in a celebration of his incredible achievements.”

It screens Sunday – Wednesday next week, with The Dog House on Thursday to bring the show back into sync with its intended playout.

  1. Everyone will have he opinion on this but if the family have given the go ahead, I feel they are obviously the most important ones to think of here, then who are we to tell them when it’s right or wrong to air the show again.

I will watch it and just reflect on Jock and the last time we will hear his voice and see him on our screens. But gee it’s going to be emotional.

    1. Exactly. If the family is giving the green light for Masterchef to air, then there is no reason for Ten to hold it back any longer than necessary.

  2. Tacky. They should have waited a few weeks. Let the funeral happen and his family have more time regardless of what this says that approved it still seems way to quick. However I will watch as Simmo said with tissues!

    1. That would be the worst thing to do – just as the family would be adjusting to life without him it would all be dragged up again. This way minimises the impact on the family.

  3. I will be watching l, but with a tear in my eye. Jock would’ve wanted for the show to go on. His family have been consulted and hence being able to air. For those not choosing to watch it, well that’s up to you, but his family needs our support, so let’s support them.

RIP Jock, you’ll be sadly missed.

  4. I have mixed feelings about The Sunday Project tribute. It feels like they’re trying to milk the boost in ratings they received on Monday by continuing with the tribute. I remember when they were big on social distancing, masks, and the like, but they returned to having studio audiences on the heels of all-time low ratings. I’m a bit cynical about it.

  5. It’s going to be so hard to watch. Sure will feel strange watching Jock do his job and hearing his voice.
But I’m sure channel 10 will handle it well and the special edition of the project is a good idea.
