This year, the biggest race around the world is heading in a new direction in an exciting new series, The Amazing Race Australia Celebrity Edition. They say travel is the ultimate test of any relationship, and for the celebrities joining us this season, it will be no ordinary challenge. Our celebrities and their race partner will be met at the starting line by our larrikin host Beau Ryan, who will be sure to throw twists and turns their way as they race across the globe. From culture shock, meagre budgets and the pressure of a non-stop race, our star racers will be tested in ways we’ve never seen before.

  1. When it was first announced TAR Australia was doing a Celebrity version back in April I was dreading it… but this cast is awesome! I love all of these “celebrities”, but I’m especially looking forward to seeing George, Ben & Jackie and Bec race around the world!

  2. Omg what a horrible lot I don’t even know who that George and Harry persons are. The only interesting person might be Peter Rowthorn and maybe Jana Pitman but spare me more Denyer and can’t stand the Gillies girl. I usually like celebrity version of things but the amazing race is especially interesting because of the unknown teams. I think I’ll give this a wide birth.

  3. I would have preferred a civilian series with this number of teams, rather than the supersized seasons we got over the last three series.
I’m optimistic for this celebrity versions as it seems to have a good mix, but really hope that it will be renewed again next year with a ‘normal’ edition.

  4. The celebrity version doesn’t bother me. The 2 hour long episodes that are dragged out and boring are the problem. Run it at a tight 60-70 minutes and it may actually be exciting and worth watching.

  5. Really looking forward to this. Can’t wait to see George again. Bej Judd’s a surprise and I’m sure she’ll surprise us. Harry will be good and some eye candy 😉 Ben and Jackie will be fun too. Actually I like the whole cast this time round.

  6. This is an alright mix of teams for notability.

I know it’s needed form last years ratings, but i hope the celeb gimmick is one and done

  7. Nice mix of teams. Heard of quite a few of them.

Might be an unpopular opinion but I wish the US version did a celebrity edition too. I’ve heard many celebrities are fans of the show.

    1. I don’t think the Americans has done a celebrity edition, but they did do a reality show edition a couple of years ago with alumni from Big Brother, Survivor and The Amazing Race itself (not that they count as celebrities).

      1. They have included noteworthy figures on past US seasons – I think a guy from New Kids on the Block was on with his boyfriend, as well as Mike White (Actor, Writer, Producer who also did Survivor and best know for creating White Lotus) as well as a fair few former athletes

But outside of a Reality Showdown season and an Internet Stars season (which includes some big internet famous names), there has never been a distinct celebrity season.

  8. I’ve said this before but I’ll say again. People complain that they have a “celebrity” edition, but then say they’ve never heard of the “celebrities”…so doesn’t that just make them “normal” people which is what you wanted in the first place?
If you’re a fan of The Amazing Race, it shouldn’t matter who’s on it.

    1. I will say, I am someone who kinda has that opinion, and I think that there is an appeal for people from all walks of life who aren’t cameras ready as they have their adventure of a race around the worlds. Maybe that’s a naïve older view of these reality shows, but one that appeals to me.

A celeb version of any show will have the same types of polished people – An actor, a comedian, a model, several boring athletes – there (in part) for the pay check and camera ready and knowing how to put their best foot forward for post-show notability.

  9. I see Grant Denyer. I’m out. I was genuinely not interested in watching this regardless, but I just cannot stand him unfortunately. In my opinion, he’s the definition of a washed up C list celebrity clinging to any sort of continuation of showbiz relevancy in any way he can. He’s always popping up on random news articles every few months with strange things… almost trying to remind us that he’s still here, like that weird UFO story… ugh. Pass.

  10. Hmm, 10 might need to give some detail on who these people are. I’ve never heard of Alli Simpson, Ben and Jackie Gillies, Harry Jowsey, Dane and Bow Simpson, and Emma Watkins. Bec Judd is a footballers’s wife which doesn’t make her a celebrity unless she’s acted, danced or sung and I’ve not noticed.

    1. Aren’t we all aware of what grade of celebrities appear on reality shows by now ? Most of these people have already been on at least one .

  11. When in doubt of ratings success, just add “celebrities”. It’s a shame they feel the need to do it, as I like watching “regular” people do good (or not).

    1. Hehe. Such an effort just to get out of dangerous Brighton. I look forward to seeing her race to exotic locations such as Broadmeadows & Melton!
