Declan misses MasterChef final

Brent and Rhiannon to face off for series title after Declan is eliminated at the eleventh hour.

Brent Draper and Rhiannon Anderson will compete in the MasterChef Australia grand final after Declan Cleary was eliminated in the Semi Final.

Contestants had to serve almost 70 plates an entrée, main and dessert to 20 diners and the judges, on their own.

With 4 hours to prep, Rhiannon was voted best entrée and Brent best main.

That left Declan to score best dessert to have a chance at the Final.

Declan served choux buns with a pandan coconut crème pâtissier, charred pineapple and tamarind caramel. The judges agreed his choux was 10 out of 10, however his custard was undercooked, leaving it chalky in texture and taste.

He bows out of the contest in third place.

Sunday’s grand final will also mark the final episode with the late Jock Zonfrillo, who tragically died on the eve of the season premiere.

7:30pm Sunday on 10. NB: winner results are published live AEST Sunday.

  1. Reading TVT weekly newsletter…. “Australia’s third best home cook for 2023.”
Aawww bless him…I really like this young man…hope to hear his future happenings!!

  2. I feel sunday night people will only be watching for Jock.

The final just feels blah to me. I mean I know Declan stuffed up last night but he was the one that took risks and expanded his cooking skill smore. Rhiannon used packet noodles the other night and nothing was said.

I would have loved to see a Declan/Brent final.

I wonder if there will be some sort of tribute to Jock at the end.

  3. Declan was robbed. I like Rhiannon but Declan is definitely a better cook than her. I was really wanting him to win even though he bagged my hero Meat Loaf on the Project. Sunday will be very hard seeing Jock for the last time. I think there will be lots of tears.

      1. A while ago I feared another Julie Goodwin charade with the 3 guys left not really appealing to the organizer’s as winners. Rhiannon has bumbled and stuffed up as many dishes as Julie did and will probably end up winning the final sadly because she shouldn’t have got this far. How often do you hear the judges disagree on decisions.
