Marcia Hines hints at Australian Idol return
The Queen of Australian Idol looks set to return to the judging table.

Marcia Hines looks set to return to Australian Idol.
“It looks like I’m doing it again this year,” she said on the Jess Rowe Big Talk Show podcast.
“I look forward to it.”
Reflecting on her long run on the 10 original she said, “It was a wonderful thing to nurture and try and help people who just want to be in the entertainment business.
 “These kids were plucked out of obscurity and thrown on the biggest TV show Australia has ever seen,” she added.
“And it was just before social media got crazy.”
It isn’t clear if Hines is a guest judge or a permanent part of the panel for Seven in 2024. But there is speculation Meghan Trainor and possibly Harry Connick Jr. may not be returning to the show which films auditions in coming weeks.
Hines, who is currently undertaking a 50th anniversary Still Shining tour, also clicks with Kyle Sandilands which -given isn’t easy- would doubtless make her a network favourite.

Can Kyle Sandilands not return can’t stand him but I refuse to watch because he’s on it and it depends on when the show is filming because marca was recently announced to be in Grease the musical starting in Melbourne in December
It was interesting this week listening to Kyle and Jackie O (it was either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday’s show – can’t remember), coz Kyle said even though it’s not announced that he’d gotten rid of Harry because he doesn’t like him and that Marcia’s coming back full time taking over from Megan who just gave birth. He also mentioned it’d now shut the people up who said there was not enough diversity on the panel (not in those exact words…!) Surprised no media ran with any of that?
Great! Let’s not forget Deni Hines as well, who has a captivating on-screen presence whenever she appears on TV or is being interviewed.
I have always preferred iconic Australian judges on these sorts of shows and imagine they’d be cheaper to pay than imported acts. I also don’t understand the point of having multiple imported acts on these panels when one suffices and they’re generally c, maybe b list imports at best. What is the point of Seven having both Rita Ora and Jason Imbruglia on The Voice panel? Waste of money I think when they could get Aussies to do it
