The Betoota Advocate: July 5

Saddle up for a look at the Fine Cotton scandal, Betoota-style.

The final episode of The Betoota Advocate looks to 1984’s farcical Fine Cotton horseracing scandal.

What do cops, conmen and a can of spray paint have in common? A disastrous racing scandal at Eagle Farm Racecourse in August 1984, that’s what. Stepping back nearly forty years, the Betoota Advocate look back at the farcical yet absurdly true story of Fine Cotton, a racehorse that won and then lost in their new series The Betoota Advocate Presents, a Paramount+ Australian Original Series, streaming now.

Delving into the horse swap that stopped Australia in its tracks, Editor At Large Errol Parker and Editor Clancy Overell discover how it all went so badly wrong.

Chatting to those who were there at the time, The Betoota Advocate confirm what really went down on that fateful day the only way they know how. With cold hard facts.

Wednesday July 5 on Paramount+.
