In the final episode of Who The Bloody Hell Are We? Adam Liaw looks to Chinese-Australian history which hasn’t been told or isn’t celebrated.
Episode Three:
Well over a million people in Australia now have Chinese ancestry – and cook, TV presenter and author Adam Liaw is one of them. Deftly sidestepping nearly 200 years of racial stereotyping, Adam embarks on a journey to find out how people of Chinese descent fit into Australia’s story. It’s a quest that takes him from the Chinese tradie who created the bank that became Westpac to the Chinese Australian roo-shooter who became an Anzac legend. Along the way, Adam busts the myth of the hardy Aussie drover, discovers a flourishing Chinatown in the Top End that was wiped off the face of the earth, and champions a forgotten Chinese Australian footballer who – even a century past his prime – can still kick the Adelaide Crows out of the park.
