Screenworks is calling for expressions of interest from regionally based crew who are ready to step up into more senior crew roles.

Screenworks is implementing a Set for Success initiative which will support the skills development of regional film and television crew to help them advance their careers.

“We see regional practitioners as part of the solution to increasing the skills and capacity of film and television crew in Australia,” said Screenworks CEO Lisa O’Meara. “We are calling for regional crew who are keen to train into more senior roles, we are working with a range of production companies and we have world class practitioners as mentors. The calibre of our mentors will ensure that we are providing the highest possible standard of on the job training, adding strength to the industry.”

Recent industry analysis by Ausfilm and Screen Producers Australia has identified skills gaps and crew shortages across Australia, as a result film and television crew members are being pushed into more senior crew roles before they are sufficiently trained. There is a recognised need for mentoring, guidance and onset training to support crew to confidently step up into more senior roles on set. Screenworks’ Set for Success program will help build the skill sets required by experienced senior crew by training and upskilling regional practitioners to help address the national shortages and build industry capacity.

How it will work:

Screenworks Set for Success will support regional crew to step up into senior crew roles with the help of trained and experienced mentors.

Screenworks Set for Success has a network of highly skilled mentors across different on set departments, ensuring the training provided will be of the highest calibre. Screenworks has partnered with Creative Plus Business who will run a ‘train the trainer’ program to ensure the mentors have the skills and techniques required to guide the crew who are training into more senior roles.
