Head of Factual & Reality departs ITV Studios Australia

Exec behind hits including I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and The Chase departs studio after nine years.

Ben Ulm, Head of Factual & Reality at ITV Studios Australia, has departed after more than nine years.

Ulm has overseen a prolific slate since 2014 including the launch of successful franchises I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Australia and The Chase Australia.

He also oversaw Keeping Australia Alive, Hell’s Kitchen Australia, Paddock To Plate, Plonk. As Head of Factual & Reality he helmed Keeping Australia Safe, Australia Behind Bars, Nurses, Who Gets To Stay In Australia, Inside Central Station, Life On The Outside, Inside Sydney Airport and SBS hit, Alone Australia.

Ulm said: “I’m usually good at musical chairs, but I couldn’t have asked for a better run. 2023 has been one of the most gratifying years of my career, with Alone Australia, I’m A Celeb back where it belongs in Africa and Inside Sydney Airport doing well on Thursday nights against big sport.

David Mott, CEO and Managing Director ITV Studios Australia said: “Ben was a respected member of the senior team at ITV Studios Australia and has overseen many programs at ITV since 2014.

“Ben was very much part of the team that secured the initial commissions for two of ITV Studios biggest global brands in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and The Chase as well as numerous factual series including Australia Behind Bars and Inside Sydney Airport.

“We wish him every success in his future roles and we hope to work with him again in the not too distant future.”

Ulm said, “I wish all of my friends at ITV Studios well as we climb into Spring…. I’ve enjoyed working with them and have no regrets from my ITV Studios time.”

He is now looking to new opportunities in production, development or freelancing.

“Once a storyteller, always a storyteller,” he added.
