Lawmen: Bass Reeves: teaser

David Oyelowo stars in an upcoming western executive produced by Taylor Sheridan.

A teaser has dropped for the upcoming western series Lawmen: Bass Reeves, executive produced by Taylor Sheridan.

The anthology series coming to Paramount+ stars David Oyelowo, Lauren E. Banks, Forrest Goodluck, Barry Pepper, Demi Singleton, Donald Sutherland and Dennis Quaid.

The cast also includes Shea Whigham and Garrett Hedlund as guest stars and, in recurring roles, Joaquina Kalukango, Lonnie Chavis, Grantham Coleman, Tosin Morohunfola, Dale Dickey, Rob Morgan, Ryan O’Nan, Margot Bingham, Mo Brings Plenty, Justin Hurtt-Dunkley and Bill Dawes.

Creator, executive producer and showrunner is Chad Feehan.

The eight-episode season is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions and Oyelowo’s Yoruba Saxon. The series is also executive produced by David C. Glasser, Jessica Oyelowo, David Permut, Christina Alexandra Voros, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari and David Hutkin.

It will premiere in Spring.

Lawmen: Bass Reeves will bring the legendary lawman and outlaws of the Wild West to life. Reeves (Oyelowo), known as the greatest frontier hero in American history, worked in the post-Reconstruction era as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory capturing over 3,000 of the most dangerous criminals without ever being wounded. Lawmen: Bass Reeves is an anthology series with future iterations to follow other iconic lawmen and outlaws who have impacted history.

This show could have been inspired by LaMonica Garrett’s ‘Thomas’ character in 1883, Thomas’s life would have made an interesting mini series, including his early history in the U.S. military, still this new Sheridan ‘Western’ looks interesting enough. Taylor Sheridan is providing leadership with his original creative concepts, he is like a shining light at the moment, especially for male viewers.
