One news story, two exclusives.

News bulletins claim exclusives in the rush to show vision, following tragic death from suspected mushroom poisoning.

The terrible story of deaths in Victoria following a suspected poisoned mushroom lunch has made for high profile, if gruesome, TV news.

Yesterday news crews attended a Leongatha home in Victoria’s east where four guests dined in late July before becoming ill. Tragically, three people lost their lives and another is in hospital fighting for life.

News crews confronted the woman who reportedly cooked the meal, who was released by police after questioning, telling reporters, “I didn’t do anything. I loved them and I’m devastated they are gone.”

Police have said she remains a suspect as investigtions continue.

The story led news bulletins yesterday including 10 News First at 5pm and Nine News at 6pm, both of which had “Exclusive” stamped on their vision and Seven News, which did not.

A Current Affair also had a longer interview with but no Exclusive tagged in its broadcast.
