Returning: Shakespeare & Hathaway

UK mystery starring Jo Joyner and Mark Benton, begins in September.

Season 4 of UK mystery Shakespeare & Hathaway, starring Jo Joyner and Mark Benton, begins on ABC next month.

This screened internationally in February 2022.

The oddball, oddly-matched Stratford-upon-Avon-based sleuths return for more picturesque and whimsical mysteries brimming with wit and rural charm.

From suspected ghosts to the torrid world of Shakespearian escorts, not to mention the fiendish passions and bitter rivalries of ballroom dancing and a dastardly plot to sabotage Christmas, it’s business as usual for the debt-laden expoliceman and his much more credible partner-in-crime.

And the rogues’ gallery of characters this time is more colourful and eccentric than ever, from a drowned ex-Miss Stratford-upon-Avon called Ophelia to an author murdered with his own Samurai sword.

And the pair also have demons of their own to wrestle with – Lu joins a slimming club and clashes with her sister, while Frank finds himself on the wrong side of the law accused of murder.

He also finds out, when hired to look for the missing manuscript of the last book in a dystopian sci-fi series, that you should never, ever, meet you heroes.

7:30pm Saturday September 16 on ABC.

  1. I don’t mind waiting……I am older than the “I want it now, instant gratification’ generation…..I really love this show….and the both the actors are faves of mine…

    1. Me too…Joy Joyner has been doing several other projects also since last on our screens…..one I enjoyed on 10…as they say…good thing come to those who wait…but unfortunately some of the younger generation have no concept of that…sit back and enjoy.

    2. Benton and Joyner are good but I lost interest early in S3. It was predictable and formulaic writing, without any of the wit or charm of the first two.

  2. Nearly 18 months since it was put up on Britbox, and even longer since it aired on the BBC. There a lot of British content that has followed that path, and some that’s gone to Acorn or Prime. I guess eventually they may pop up.
