AFL Grand Final 2023: guide

The Front Bar, Collingwood v Brisbane Lions, KISS, Grand Final Marathon and Sunrise in Melbourne, this week across Seven.

Seven screens the AFL Grand Final between Collingwood and Brisbane Lions at the MCG live this Saturday.

The match will also screen on 7plus as part of 12 hours of AFL coverage on Saturday.

Saturday’s match will include KISS as the official pre-game entertainment, alongside Indigenous performers William Barton and Jess Hitchcock. Mike Brady will also perform before the match.

The half-time show will feature Mark Seymour & The Undertow alongside Australian singer Kate Miller-Heidke, who will also perform the national anthem.

Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley from KISS will also be special co-hosts on Sunrise live from 5.30am Federation Square in Melbourne on Friday.

The Front Bar also has its season final on Thursday.

In what will be the biggest AFL Grand Final broadcast ever, the Seven Network will have every angle of the premiership decider covered from early morning to the night for footy fans all over the country, as Australia celebrates one of the biggest days on the Australian sport calendar.

In a coup for footy fans, recently retired West Coast Eagles ruckman Nic Naitanui will join Seven’s Grand Final coverage as part of the Grand Final Brunch panel, hosted by 7NEWS Melbourne’s Rebecca Maddern, while reigning premiership captain Joel Selwood will join the 7AFL team for the post-match coverage, one year after his final game for the club he led to Grand Final glory.

Then, Luke Darcy and a panel of 7AFL’s best will welcome one of the world’s biggest sporting superstars to Australia’s most iconic day of sport, when NBA Legend and member of the iconic 1990s Chicago Bulls team, Scottie Pippen, joins the Grand Final Countdown.

With 30 AFL and AFLW Premiership’s between them, football’s #1 commentary team will field an unbeatable Grand Final line-up on Saturday, featuring Brian Taylor, James Brayshaw, Hamish McLachlan, Daisy Pearce, Luke Hodge, Matthew Richardson, Abbey Holmes, Patrick Dangerfield, Leigh Matthews, Luke Darcy, Shaun Burgoyne, Jude Bolton, Dale Thomas, Nathan Jones, Jobe Watson, Chris Johnson, Rebecca Maddern, Joel Selwood, Campbell Brown and Georgie Parker. 7NEWS reporters Tom Browne and Mitch Cleary will present all the breaking news throughout the day.

Viewers will enjoy 12 hours of coverage on Channel 7, 7mate and 7plus across Saturday, kicking off at 7.00am AEST with the Weekend Sunrise AFL Grand Final Day Special and continuing non-stop until the Grand Final post-match presentations and celebrations wind up at about 7.00pm AEST.

Following (Monday) night’s Brownlow Medal Count, Seven’s Grand Final week continues  …when Talking Finals hits the screens of Seven at 9.15pm on Channel 7 and 7plus in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth and 11.50pm in Sydney and Brisbane. Hosts James Brayshaw, Tim Watson, Joel Selwood and Trent Cotchin will take viewers into the inner sanctum of the Grand Final teams, with crosses to players’ houses ahead of their Grand Final berth.

Then on Thursday, Mick Molloy, Sam Pang and Andy Maher will be front and centre at The Front Bar for the annual Grand Final Special at 8.30pm nationally on Channel 7 and 7plus.

Mick, Sam and Andy will be at the bar to round out the AFL season, alongside an epic host of footy stars, including recently appointed Gold Coast SUNS coach Damien Hardwick, GWS GIANTS captain Toby Greene and Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald. Footy fans will also be treated to a live performance by iconic Australian musician, and You am I frontman Tim Rogers.

On Friday morning, fans can join Matt Shirvington, Natalie Barr, Mark Beretta, Sam Mac and Edwina Bartholomew, live from 5.30am AEST at Federation Square in Melbourne for a special AFL Grand Final edition of Australia’s #1 breakfast show, Sunrise, with special co-hosts Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley from KISS.

  1. At least it is streaming this year. Last year I had one family member confined to bed at the time, with no FTA terrestrial access, only streaming for everything – and there was no way to watch the AFL GF. Watched something else instead.

  2. And after a wonderful year, watching AFL live in stunning 4K on Foxtel, we get to the biggest game of the year and have to watch it on dodge pixelated channel seven HighDef, as I’m in a major regional center, the bandwidth just not enough and not sure how they get away with it, as a standard of broadcasting sport. I know I’m comparing oranges and apples, hopefully Foxtel will replay it in 4K after it finishes 🙂
