This week on Great Australian Walks, Julia Zemiro is in Byron Bay.
This walk is set in beautiful Byron Bay in the far north coast of NSW, just a couple of hours south of Brisbane. Surrounded by stunning surf beaches and with a verdant hinterland of rolling hills and valleys, this 6.25km walk reveals why this town has become a magnet for the rich and famous and a world- renowned bucket list destination for tourists.
Arriving by the world’s only solar train, Julia meets alternative folks; rubs shoulders with world champion surfers; takes in the shipwreck SS Wollongbar; learns how to feast in mother nature’s kitchen; looks for celebrities at the world-famous Wategos Beach; and ends up at the most easterly point on the Australian mainland – Byron Bay’s iconic lighthouse.
7:30pm Thursday on SBS.
