Celebrity Gogglebox, Matildas lift 10.
10 had one of its best weeknights in a very long time, but Nine still won the night.

If 10 had any shot at winning a weeknight it was last night when it had 3 key offerings -including the Matildas– while other networks included repeats.
Yet while it was one of their best performances in a long time, it was still third overall, arguably due to its weaker news offering in early evening.
The Chase topped entertainment at 466,000 / 440,000 metro viewers.
RBT led its slot at 440,000 with an extended Home & Away from 7pm at 419,000 / 372,000, then 7:30 (408,000), The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity (389,000), Martin Clunes: Islands of the Pacific (323,000) and Every Family Has a Secret (159,000).
Later Celebrity Gogglebox was 433,000 then Emergency (298,000), Grand Designs (227,000) and movie Kingsman: The Secret Service (191,000).
A Matildas v Iran match was 361,000 for 10, alas well shy of FIFA World Cup numbers, but winning its slot and topping multichannels.
Nine network won Thursday with 26.0% then Seven 24.5%, 10 24.2%, ABC 17.4% and SBS 7.9%.
Nine News was 735,000 / 716,000 for Nine. A Current Affair (622,000) and Hot Seat (375,000 / 244,000) followed. Big Miracles managed 117,000.
Seven News was #1 at 789,000 / 770,000. Over on 7mate Darradong Louncil Council debuted at just 32,000 and probably needed better promotion.
The Project drew 256,000 / 150,000. 10 News First was 217,000 / 134,000.
ABC News pulled 555,000. Griff’s Great Australian Rail Trip (186,000) and The Drum (121,000) followed.
On SBS also had many first run titles with SBS World News (132,000 / 99,000), Erotic Stories (72,000) lifting above Luke Ngyuen’s India (56,000).
The Morning Show: 127,000 / 88,000
Today Extra: 118,000 / 88,000
Total TV numbers for last Thursday are updated here.

Soccer and rugby isn’t huge in Australia but like AFL and tennis. Price me wrong.
I knew the Matilda’s match was coming up, but 10 must have had terrible marketing for the match as I completely missed it, as did many others based on those numbers.
I agree that Celebrity Gogglebox was disappointing. I found the segment on sport to be tedious because everyone who was interested had already seen it and what was there to say a second time??
My favourite couch were Anne Edmonds and her partner who’s name I can’t remember. They were crackups and I’d happily see them on main Gogglebox.
I’d say the time difference had an impact on the Matilda’s game. Also the fact that there are 3 games in a week and you just aren’t seeing any advertisements for it if you don’t live in WA.
I watched the soccer….no, not usually….but too lazy to change channel …stayed on 10 most of the night….I actually enjoyed the football, to my own surprise.
What happened to the 7 million people that watched in July. Oh that’s right, they’ve moved on. No one cares about soccer
I think the hype is still there. 10pm east coast kick off certainly didn’t help. Easily would’ve pulled 500k if it was a 7.45pm east coast kick off. 300k + viewers for 10pm is pretty good.
Being on 10 the number 4 network also doesn’t help for promotion and exposure.
Celebrity Gogglebox was disappointing. Only Julia Morris and Anthony Callea showed personality – the rest were pretty boring, and I no longer care about shows like MAFS that went to air months ago.
Yup. Like you said David, they need to fix the news/early evening. Can’t have a steady house without solid foundations.
Similar to Nine dumping Hot Seat for 2024 to help boost its lead-in to News, ACA.
I missed the Matildas game for some reason I thought it was on tonight (Friday)
