Seven will unveil its 2024 Upfront slate tomorrow afternoon at an industry event at ICC Darling Harbour, as part of SXSW.
Hit shows will return including The Voice, Farmer Wants a Wife, Dancing with the Stars and The Chase. There are returns from Australian Idol, Logie Awards, and First Dates is back on the network.
We should hear more about Dream Home, Stranded on Honeymoon Island and possibly travel contest Ultimate Escape which looks to have been pushed to 2024.
We didn’t get any of This Is Your Life this year, will it return in ’24? Someone is behind a Tough as Nails series -could it be Seven? And I can’t help but notice Carrie Bickmore is without a network, might it be time for a shift?
RFDS deserves a renewal so fingers crossed there, and the network is fond of the true crime miniseries.

Other than 1% Club, Big Brother (which would be made better as a live production, while maintaining the current game-focused format) and The Chase as my 5pm game show, nothing really strikes a cord with me on 7.
I know they have to appeal to a wide audience, but I hope they surprise with something interesting today.
Looks like Tough as Nails
Is now confirmed on ch10. I agree it’s a shame there isn’t more comedy in the current line up. I did enjoy We Interrupt This Broadcast.
Going by Outback Truckers Facebook page it looks like the show will be coming back as a veterans mentor the rookie format.
So the only shows besides News & Sports the only shows that will be returning next year are all the reality crap.
With so much reality shows across all the commercial FTA networks it’s no wonder we watch so little on 7, 9 & 10.
Of all those shows listed above: we have watched and would watch again:
We Interrupt this Broadcast
Code 1: Minute by Minute
The 1% Club
RFDS
Carols in The Domain
Plus the occasional 7NEWS Spotlight and AFL/Cricket match (only if its not on Kayo for their reduced ads).
This has been the case for 7, 9 & 10 for many, many years now and doesn’t look like changing anytime soon.
Story indicates some shows yet to be confirmed, there’s always an amount of guessing in the mix.
David, I absolutely accept that your post is a “preview” post on what may or may not happen tomorrow.
But I don’t think that I/we are that much wrong in saying that only News, Sports & Reality TV can be confirmed renewed ahead of whatever announcements are made tomorrow. We will have to await what is actually announced to see what else survives.
Probably just me but I think it’s a shame We Interrupt This Broadcast wont be back. I thought it was a nice change from most of prime time free to air theses days, and it was finding a nice groove in later episodes where they branched out into things like gentle political satire.
Any idea about whats happening with Australia’s Got talent? Surely ten would be keen for that one if seven has let it slip??
Given that in the last five years or so it’s tanked twice on Nine and once on Seven. I doubt anyone would want to touch it for a while.
Yep, licence format costs plus audition staging around the country and insurances, just doesn’t add up and not worth the effort.
I thought Kitchen Nightmares AU with Fassnidge at the very end of last year was actually decent and did pretty well in total tv? Wasn’t there talk, at least from him, of it coming back this year?
It was announced at Upfronts but then yanked basically.
I really hope ultimate escape is not a copy of nines travel guide. Agree about RFDS. Season 2 at least as good as season one. Beautifully filmed. Quality production all round. Assume international sales would be decent. Logies….fingers crossed Sam is back.

Do they do new Border Security?
