US political show The Circus is ending with its next episode.
Hosted by Mark McKinnon, John Heilemann and Jennifer Palmieri the series chalked up 8 seasons.
According to Deadline, Showtime decided not to renew the series amid changes at the network. One of the big champions of the show, Chairman and CEO David Nevins, departed last year.
John Heilemann said, “We all just feel really blessed for having had the chance to do it for as long as we did.”
He added that Showtime gave them “an extraordinary amount of freedom to make a really ambitious show that almost no one else would touch.”
Heilemann noted that there “are not a lot of entertainment entities that are set up to accommodate that kind of speed and flexibility and had the kind of trust that Showtime always had in us to do something that was such a high-wire act.”
The Circus screens in Australia on Stan.

That’s a shame, I really enjoyed the show and was looking forward to their coverage of the next 12 months of lunacy heading towards the 2024 election.
Damn, that’s a shame. Right before the election. Hopefully it gets rebooted on another streamer.
