Stephen Colbert cancels week of Late Show

"I’m recovering from surgery for a ruptured appendix," late night host reveals.

New episodes of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert have been halted this week due to host illness.

“Sorry to say that I have to cancel our shows this week,” a post by Stephen Colbert stated. “I’m sure you’re thinking, ‘Turkey overdose, Steve? Gravy boat capsize?’ Actually, I’m recovering from surgery for a ruptured appendix. I’m grateful to my doctors for their care and to Evie and the kids for putting up with me. Going forward, all emails to my appendix will be handled by my pancreas.”

Cancelled shows this week were set to feature Jennifer Garner, Baz Luhrmann, John Scofield, John Batiste, Patrick Stewart, Barbra Streisand and Kelsey Grammer.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert screens on 10.

  1. I wonder if it’s contracted that there are no guest hosts for The Late Show. It surely must cost CBS money cancelling a week of shows so soon after another week of shows were cancelled when Stephen had covid. There must be a curse getting Jon Baptiste back in the building because I’m sure he was also scheduled for the week the writers strike began.
