David Campbell & Sarah Abo hosted Carols by Candlelight for Nine last night at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl.
Performers included David Hobson, Marina Prior, Silvie Paladino and Denis Walter, Paul Kelly, GFlip, Bowen*Young & Timothy James Bowen, Wils’n, Sheridan Adams and Courtney Monsma, Virginia Gay, Mitch Tambo, Emma Memma, the cast of Grease The Musical (including Marcia Hines, Patti Newton and Jay Laga’aia), Thndo, Calista Nelmes, Casey Donovan, Bobby Fox, Bonnie Anderson, Jess Hitchcock, the casts of GroundHog Day, Miss Saigon & A Christmas Carol, Lara Nakhle, Simon Gleeson and daughter Molly -and a special appearance from Santa Claus himself.
John Foreman was musical director with choirmaster Doug Heywood, The Australian Girls Choir, the National Boys Choir and Melbourne Gospel Choir.

Silvie’s later performance, O Holy Night (which she doesn’t get to do every year unlike her equals Marina’s Angels and Hobson’s Holy City), not done by her in about a decade, was just awe inspiring, incredible, chills at that ending crescendo!
Silvie Paladino and the choir singing O Holy Night was definitely the outstanding part for me as usual. Wonderful !
