56th Annual AWGIE Awards: nominees

Nominations for The Newsreader, Colin From Accounts, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, The Last Year of Television and more.

Nominees have been announced for the 56th Annual AWGIE Awards.

Competing for script glory are The Newsreader, Colin From Accounts, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, The Last Year of Television, Neighbours, Home & Away, John Farnham: Finding the Voice, Crazy Fun Park and more.

“An exciting field of Australian screen and stage writers have been recognised as nominees for the 56th Annual AWGIE Awards, to be presented next month in Sydney. Over 70 new and outstanding works are celebrated from a cohort of storytellers that includes emerging and debut writers who are bursting onto the scene, as well as multi-AWGIE Award winners and much-admired Guild members, a testament to the strength of our writing community and its significance at the heart of our industry,” the Australian Writers’ Guild said in a statement.

Winners will be announced at on Thursday 15 February at the Parade Theatre at NIDA. These mark a long period in between awards, with the last event staged in November 2022.

As always, the AWGIE Awards recognise AWG member works, based on script alone.
