“2024 was supposed to be his year”: Sarah Harris remembers Jesse Baird

A tearful Sarah Harris paid tribute to her former Studio 10 colleague, Jesse Baird.

10’s Sarah Harris last night made a tearful tribute to her former Studio 10 colleage Jesse Baird who, along with Luke Davies, was tragically taken last week.

“It’s been a really hard week for a lot of us here right across the 10 Network,” she said on The Project.

“It’s hard to even talk about Jesse in the past tense because Jesse -and I’m speaking on behalf of everyone here in the studio, across newsroom and Studio 10 as well- but he was more than just a colleague he was he was our friend, (he was) like a little brother. He was one of those kids that lit up not just the screen, but also the room. He just had this big beautiful smile. He was so good on air as well. Only 26, (an) absolute star. He was quick on his feet, whether it be feeding crocs or waterskiing. He did it all. He was just one of those kids who had big smile, big talent, and an even bigger heart.

“2024 was supposed to be his year. After Studio 10 wrapped up last year, which is the last time I saw him, he was kind of wondering what he’s going to do. He had a brand new job that he was about to start in a few weeks’ time. Speaking of Luke Davies, he described him as ‘the one’ to some of his closest friends. He was in love. And my heart just aches for not only Luke’s family but also Jesse’s family: his mum, his sister, his brother, his grandmother who he was very close with. You need to know, to Jessie’s family, that he spoke about you often and with so much love and we’re just all so, so sorry.”

The Studio 10 team has also set up a GoFundMe page for Jesse Baird’s family: For our beautiful Jesse Baird.

Please note only tributes for Jesse & Luke will be published at this time due to pending legal case.

  1. I’ve been thinking about this almost non-stop for the last week or so. How utterly despairingly horrific for everyone. We never crossed paths when I did some consulting for 10, but the loss of his immense talent is palpable. And for it to happen this week in Sydney … My desk buddy at work is also a gay man in his late 20s who’s gone up to Sydney this week. Let’s just say our relationship is changed now.
