Married at First Sight dominates, Seven wins ratings week.

A victory for Seven in the first week of survey.

Married at First Sight took out the Top 4 places in National Audience ratings last week at 1.966m viewers.

But the week went to Seven in Total People, which is quite an achievement given the strength of MAFS.

4. 7NEWS Wednesday: National reach 2 million, national audience 1.25 million. #1 news program.

Nine:

  • Married at First Sight has once again cemented itself as Australia’s No. 1 program. Last week it took out the Top 4 rankings with People 25-54, 16-39, GS 18+ and Total People.
  • Sunday’s episode of Married at First Sight was the No.1 program of the week by audience, recording a Total TV average audience of 1.966 million, including 630,000 on 9Now. This number will increase in the weeks ahead, as the BVOD number continues to build.
  • More than 50% of viewers aged 16-39 are watching Married at First Sight exclusively on 9Now.
  • 9News Melbourne, with its new weeknight hosting lineup of Alicia Loxley and Tom Steinfort, won the 6.00pm news battle every night last week.
  • The weekend bulletin of 9News Melbourne saw the return of Peter Hitchener to our screens. The bulletin won by 90,000 viewers last Sunday and by 75,000 viewers last night.
  • 9News Sydney with Peter Overton also won its timeslot every night last week.

  1. Seven are being badly let down by poor penetration of 7plus. 9now is crushing competitors- look at that almost 50% share in 16-39 year olds watching free tv streaming apps. I realise MAFS is the big contributor but even without it all the shows on 9now outrank the shows on 7plus

    1. 7plus does reasonable numbers for some shows so don’t reckon it’s a problem with the platform as such. Seven usually skews older so perhaps it’s the demo who tend not to stream unless they really have to / prefer the good old “live” TV. Am surprised seven managed to win this week. Would reckon that’s the first week 1 win for a while for them.
