Oops. Cameras don’t lie… Idol’s tell-tale drone shot

This drone shot of Kyle Sandilands driving a car in the bush forgot to frame out the stretch limos on the side of the road nearby.

Viewers of last night’s episode of Australian Idol episode saw judge Kyle Sandilands drive to a small country town in South Australia to source some young country singers.

Driving on the open road, he even stopped his car at a bullet-ridden signpost pointing to the town of Sandilands, to give it a spruce up. Points to the research team for that.

But there was also a drone shot where eagle-eyed viewers may have spotted the tell-tale sign about how television is actually made.

Sitting not far from the 5 way junction where Sandilands stopped his car were several white stretch limousines.

Presuming they were part of the production crew driving to the small town, they were unlikely to be full of camera and sound enjoying a chauffer-driven tour while Sandilands had to slug it out behind the wheel of his car.

So you’ll forgive me for thinking Sandilands was driven by limo to the roadsign, swapped cars to get behind the wheel for the TV sequence, and then climbed back into the limo…

Hey, it’s Reality TV. Nobody got hurt, it’s the magic of television. Just an edit that gave away the bigger production picture….

  1. I’m surprised he could even be bothered to drive himself up any road….any where…I can’t imagine that would be in his job description.

  2. Nicely spotted, DK. Nothing would surprise me about King Kyle. I am only persisting with Idol because of Marcia and Amy. I just can’t develop any positive vibes about him. Never have; I suspect I never will.
