UK seaside murder mystery, Whitstable Pearl has been renewed for a third season.

The Acorn TV series based on Julie Wassmer’s novels stars Kerry Godliman (After Life, Derek) and Howard Charles, (The Widow, The Red Line).

In Season 3 of the show from Crime producer Buccaneer, Godliman returns to build her private detective business, finding herself involved in more diverse investigations, including reopening an infamous local cold case and the death of a famous food critic.

She’s aided and abetted by her outspoken mum Dolly and still going strong with boyfriend Tom, but it’s navigating her complex relationship with DCI Mike McGuire that still proves Pearl’s most challenging case.

Returning cast members also include Frances Barber as Dolly, Robert Webb as Tom Grant, Isobelle Molloy as Ruby Williams and Sophia del Pizzo as DS Nikki Martel.

The series has also screened on 9GEM.

  1. Season 2 aired on Acorn back Nov/Dec 2022. Nine actually announced it for Gem in 2023, but Acorn and ITV often just sells the first season as a promotion for their streaming platforms here. S2 of Queens of Mystery did eventually air on Gem though.

  2. Series 1 has just started to screen on Foxtel Sleuth…and so has Series 1 of Queens of Mystery.
Series 1 of Signora Volpe was also on UKTV recently.
