Returning: Star Trek: Discovery

Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery embark on their 5th and final season.

The fifth and final season of Star Trek: Discovery will screen in early April on Paramount+.

The 10-episode season will find Captain Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery uncovering a mystery that will send them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries. But there are others on the hunt as well… dangerous foes who are desperate to claim the prize for themselves and will stop at nothing to get it.

Season Five also includes Anthony Rapp (Paul Stamets), Mary Wiseman (Sylvia Tilly), Wilson Cruz (Dr. Hugh Culber), David Ajala (Cleveland “Book” Booker), Blu del Barrio (Adira) and Callum Keith Rennie (Rayner).

Season Five also features recurring guest stars Elias Toufexis (L’ak) and Eve Harlow (Moll).

The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Michelle Paradise, Heather Kadin, Aaron Baiers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Sonequa Martin-Green, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth serve as executive producers. Alex Kurtzman and Michelle Paradise serve as co-showrunners.

Two episodes Thursday, 4 April then weekly on Paramount+.

I’m sure Paramount+ will be pleased to see this ‘investment’ come to an end, it has struggled along on two cylinders when it should have had eight, but that’s the Star Trek universe in the 21st century, and unfortunately it’s not alone in the sci-fi franchise business. Hopefully the U.S. studios will get their mojo back.

    1. I struggled through the first season and then gave it away in the second, so interesting to hear that you felt it continued to struggle along. Discovery left a bad taste in my mouth regarding new Star trek releases and it wasn’t until recently I tried Strange New Worlds, which i’m really enjoying. They seem to have the formula back for this instalment.
